2006

SEF funds local educational initiatives

The Solon Education Foundation (SEF) is proud to announce the awardees for our 2006 fiscal year grant cycle. The mission of the SEF is to maximize opportunities for students, staff, and friends served by the Solon Community School District. We received 18 applications requesting $7500. We awarded $4858 to the following projects:

  1. Nancy Hyde/Nancy Trow ($145) for a combined Elementary/Middle School Math research project.
  2. Kathy Kaldneberg ($500) to initiate podcast book readings in the library.
  3. Joel Foreman ($500) to fund a Vocal Jazz ensemble.
  4. Desomnd Cervantez ($400) for updated marching band software
  5. Dawn Posekany ($413) for Biology Teaching Modules
  6. Holly Hubbard ($500) for digital video cameras in the science department
  7. Karry Putzy ($400) for a digital camera for the language program
  8. Sean Seaton ($500) for iPods for a Learning Center pilot program
  9. Bennet Kenyon-Brown ($500) to support student-directed research projects in the High School
  10. Bennet Kenyon-Brown ($500) to support a robotics design team.

We continue to be impressed by the community interest and support as the SEF strives to aid the school district in fulfilling its mission of excellence and acheivement in student education and service.

2005

SEF funds local educational initiatives

The Solon Education Foundation (SEF) is proud to announce the awardees for our 2005 fiscal year grant cycle. We were pleased to have twice the funding available for our second grant cycle. We received 13 interesting applications requesting over $6000. We awarded just over $4000 to the following projects:

  1. Debra Kosek ($400) to buy books for the Lakeview “Win with Reading” initiative,
  2. Kathy Kaldneberg ($400) to update the electronic library catalog at Lakeview,
  3. Kathy Kaldenberg ($500) to fund a pilot project using graphic novels in the Middle and High School libraries,
  4. Stephanie Schutt ($500) for two classroom science libraries and ($500) a science exploration kit for the Summer Science Academy,
  5. Allison Chuick ($250) for a Family Fund Scholarship pilot program,
  6. Allison Chuick ($250) for a Middle School mentoring program,
  7. Matt Townsley ($485) for a Calculator Co-op program in the High School,
  8. Dawn Posekany ($243) for blood pressure monitors for High School health projects, and
  9. Bennett Kenyon-Brown ($500) to support student-directed research projects in the High School.

2004

SEF funds local educational initiatives

The Solon Education Foundation (SEF) is proud to announce the awardees for our 2004 fiscal year grant cycle. We awarded funds to the following projects:

  1. Debra Kosek ($450) to buy books for the Lakeview “Win with Reading” initiative,
  2. Sean Seaton ($500) to develop an instructional technology server in the Middle School,
  3. Bennet Kenyon-Brown ($500) to support student-directed research projects in the High School,
  4. Carissa Engle ($432) to purchase computer projection microscopes for the Middle School science program,
  5. Dale Jedlicka ($150) to purchase hardware for a reading assistance program for the Learning Center.
