Board of Directors
Tom Gross, President. Tom has lived in the greater Solon area since 1995. Tom is a Pulmonary Physician at University of Iowa Health Care. He and his wife, Linda Lee, have two children in the Solon Community School District. Tom has a special interest in science education and cultivation of the performing arts.
Teresa Kulper, Vice President. Teresa is the Director of Faculty and Staff Services at the University of Iowa. She has a Master’s of Social Work. Teresa and her husband, Mitch, have two children, Corinne, 10 and Madison, 7. They have lived in Solon for about 11 years.
Lois Geist, Secretary. Lois is a physician at the University of Iowa. She and her husband Chick Carroll have two children in the Solon School District. She was previously on the Solon School Board. She has been active in the district in a variety of venues, particularly with the music and science programs.
Mike Turner, Treasurer. Mike has lived in the Solon School District since 1996. He has a BBA in Finance from the University of Iowa and is a loan officer for Hills Bank & Trust, Co. His wife, Kim, is a registered nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals and they have two children, David, a sophomore in high school and, Cash, a second grader.
Rod Loney , Board Member. Rodney is an Applications Development Manager at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He has a BA degree in M.I.S. from Buena Vista University. His wife Kathy also works at the UIHC in the Urology clinic. They moved to Solon 8+ years ago and continue to enjoy living in the community they adopted as their home.
Art Schut, Board Member. Art has lived in the Solon School District since 1983. All three of his children, Joshua, Rachel, and Aaron, have attended Solon schools; the youngest graduating in 2007. Art is employed as president & chief executive officer of M.E.C.C.A., a not-for-profit organization delivering behavioral and public health programs and services in Iowa.
Kevin Blind, Board Member. Kevin Blind and his family moved to rural Solon in 1995. He and his wife, Chris, have three children - Adam, Kelly and Erin. Erin is a
junior at Solon High School. Adam is a graduate of the University of
Iowa college of business, and Kelly is an accounting major there. Kevin
is managing editor of IFT Publications in Cedar Rapids, publishers of
several Midwest agricultural newspapers. Chris is nursing supervisor of
post anesthesia at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Kevin is a past
president of the Solon Athletic Boosters. He and Chris are also members
of the Beef Days Committee, chairing Kids Corner. Kevin also is involved
with the Knights of Columbus at St.
Mary's Church in Solon.
